RATS Home

Romsey & Totton Swimming Club (RATs) is a small and friendly club who cater for all swimming abilities. The club was previously known as Romsey SC which was based at the Crossfield pool in Romsey.  With the closing of the pool and the opening of Totton Recreation Centre and Romsey Rapids in 1989 and 1990 respectively a new opportunity emerged to expand and incorporate both towns into one swimming club and so RATs was born.

The club aims to make swimming available to everyone in the community and has a thriving lessons programme at both Romsey and Totton. Within the club, lessons are run in accordance with the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) guidelines and levels, and everyone is able to progress all the way through to the main club, where they can take their swimming further. We offer a free trial to anyone who is interested in either lessons or joining the main club. All this is overseen by our Head Coach Steve Harrison, a Commonwealth Games Silver Medallist, who has been the Head Coach from the beginning, 25 years plus his time before at Romsey SC. Steve and all the other coaches will help the swimmers go as far as they want. We have had National finalists in the past and currently have swimmers who qualify for the Hampshire County and Regional Finals. We also have swimmers who only want to swim in local galas or just to keep fit and a good number of Masters, some of whom take part in Triathlons. So we really are a club to suit all needs.
